Mobilizing Collective Intelligence at Scale
LIKSI is a community-driven initiative that combines the accessibility of SMS with the engaging power of online video to empower residents in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDA) in the Philippines. Recognizing the diverse internet connectivity in rural areas, LIKSI employs a hybrid approach to ensure maximum reach and impact.
LIKSI can effectively engage with communities facing low-bandwidth challenges by utilizing SMS and messaging as the primary communication channel. This allows for consistent information dissemination, feedback collection, and community mobilization through text messages. To enhance the learning experience in areas with better connectivity, LIKSI complements SMS with informative and engaging online videos. These videos provide in-depth explanations, demonstrations, and visual aids on various topics relevant to community development.
Through this hybrid model, LIKSI aims to bridge the digital divide, foster community empowerment, and contribute to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by addressing the specific needs and circumstances of rural communities in the Philippines.
